Artist Brian Mahieu “Missouri’s Monet” is creating a series of plein air paintings depicting the site where Lewis and Clark camped on September 18, 1806.  In addition to landscapes and river scenes, Mahieu’s richly pigmented floral paintings will be included in the auction.   This body of work is being created, expressly, to benefit the Aquarium and its ongoing projects.

21. Small German Pocket Maritime Nautical Compass, ca 1850. A rare compass in great condition with lid. Wonderful flat-sided, conical pivot. And it points north once again! Condition: The lid fits tightly and has only a few dings. The copper cylinder body is in great shape. This compass once had a glass crystal, but it's long gone. The card itself points to north and swings freely on, say, the point of a pin, but the actual pivot pin should be pointed up a bit. The top layer of the card is worn and required a patch to hold the pivot in place, but the card is solidly repaired.
