Spatulate Unusual Form with pinching and twisting action in the
segments. Flower form is flat as a dinner plate and as
large as one! A gorgeous violet with a purple blue band on the petals
and a ruffled cream picotee on all segments! This diamond dusted
bloom has a chartreuse throat and the petals display a micro-ruffled
near bubbly texture -- this trait is prevalent in PURPLE SATELLITE's
children. We are getting many gorgeous CLEAR purples from Purple
Satellite. PS was absolutely the best parent for purple-blue
spiders and UFs in the '01 seedling crop! BELLADONNA STARFISH (a
full pod-sibling to TRIUNE BEING) has been a wonderful parent, and many
of her children display this knobby edging and lighter picotee -- very
uncommon in the Unusual Forms class. Very fertile pollen,
reluctant pod parent, but I did not know it was nocturnal when I was
testing it. Hit it at dusk, and you may ,well, get pods.
Very vigorous grower/clumper though fans are not large.
If you want to breed purple spider/UFs with purple blue eyes this is your parent, I can not stress this enough....

1.25” 4.0:1 ratio. B&B 3x12. I do not hybridize
for reds, but certainly couldn’t argue when this beauty
opened! The flower descends from a Wilson seedling that is a waxy
pale orange cascade with great substance, and a green throat.
This I crossed with Lambert’s famous “sleeper”
EMERALD EYE. Jewel of Shinar is a wonderful, clear red with blue
overtones, a very faint suggestion of a watermark 3/4 of the way out on
the petals a smart white midrib and gorgeous deep green throat that
lasts all day. This beauty also throws the occasional 4x4
polytepal bloom.

These last three cultivars are LOST TO CULTIVATION. They
died in a "propagation" disaster. I was using the protocols
published in the AHS Journal for crown division in conjunction with
hydroponics -- with devastating results. Please don't attempt this!
All existing plants of these cultivars rotted in my hydroponics -- of this I am positive.
I only list them here as they were important parents for me, and
they are in the AHS database as registered cultivars. I have
noted in bold existing siblings and progeny of note. The good
news is that I have thousands of seedlings that continue these lines of
breeding. |

large, pale lemon throat is striking against the deep lilac halo, and
the form is always beautifully symmetrical.

more. Extremely pod and pollen fertile. Great breeding potential for
