| ORCHID HUNTER
Orchid Series A striking Cattleya Orchid-shaped daylily of clear violet with a blue chevron band on the petals and creamy lemon sepals brushed pale violet. The petals are ruffled with a cream picotee and recurve. Sepals twist and pinch lightly. A real "screamer" in my book. Gorgeous, healthy blue-green foliage. Fertile both ways. The pod parent of SCANDINAVIA was either ORCHID VISITATION or ORCHID HUNTER (full siblings). I did not specify which sibling in the [MISS JESSIE X LOCH NESS MONSTER] cross I used I used, but I believe it is was Orchid Hunter. Scandinavia looks like a white version of this bloom, and is a good example of my best near whites coming out of lines of purple breeding. See my article on breeding tall daylilies, and the Viking Series here. |
