| VIOLET COCKATOO
Tropical Bird series, an imaginary cockatoo
Mahieu Diploid 97-381 C
[ROSY LIGHTS X SATIN BIRD]
48 L RE 6.5 FR NOC EXT SEV, 5 way branching 36 buds, single form* *Originally
registered as an Unusual Form, In '07 registration was
ammended to SINGLE FORM as the crispation on this plant was not
consistent (all three petals were not always crispate.) A very valuable addition to the late summer garden, VIOLET
COCKATOO has beautiful foliage and a very long bloom period. The diamond
dusted, violet-pink blooms have a bluish chevron band and lighter petal edges.
The sepals are lighter in tone and tipped in cream. Blooms are still
beautiful late in the day. Neon lime green throat. Fertile both
ways.
Violet Cockatoo is a full sib to TANIMBAR COCKATOO which is extremely UF. I
love the color clarity, lateness, height , clean foliage and b&b
on Violet Cockatoo. Plant habits more to my taste than the sib. If
you are interested in it as a breeder, I would use it as it definitely
has the genes for extreme crispation combined with great plant habit.
