| WHITACRE’S GIFT Mahieu Diploid 96-104 B [PRAGUE SPRING]X[Lambert seedling D86-8C (SERPENTS TOOTH X SATYR)] 32 M 8.5 NOC EXT SEV, 4 way branching 24 buds Unusual Form This flower has produced the some of the most outstanding seedlings in our fields. One in particular is a rich concord purple (opening black-purple), velvety with a white picotee and it is a super extended bloomer, taking 2 days to open and staying fully open for 24 hours!! WHITACRE’S GIFT is more of a smoky purple color with a 1/8 inch ruffled cream picotee and lime green throat. Nocturnal blooming and staying fresh until dusk the next day. An occasional polytepal, the form is a pinched and quilled crispate. The name of this flower refers to the Whitacre’s letting me use pollen from Lambert’s last crop of seedlings. In this case D 86-8C which looks like a HUGE version of DIABOLIQUE. L D86-8C has been a key parent for me, truly WHITACRE’S GIFT to me. Read about my mentors the Whitacres here  |
